CFO Lunch on ESG and Taxonomy

The term ESG – Environmental, Social and Governance – is gaining significance in the world of shipping and finance. Recent years have seen ESG regulations and market/stakeholder demands becoming more widespread, both in terms of awareness among investors and other stakeholders and regulators in asking shipping companies to disclose and communicate their sustainability performance. Danish Shipping hosted a successful ESG reporting event in May 2022 and has been approached by members to look into hosting more discussions and knowledge sharing in this field.

Shipping companies need to address up-coming requirements such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities.

We would like to invite you to a lunch at Danish Shipping, on 16 September 2022 from 12:00-14:00, to discuss how we best continue discussions and knowledge exchange among members of Danish Shipping in this field to bridge the gap towards a more tangible sustainable transformation methodology for everyone. At the working lunch we propose to discuss the following points:

• How do developments in ESG and the EU Taxonomy create new opportunities and challenges for professionals in finance, including CFOs?
• What are the linkages between developments in ESG and broader discussions regarding sustainable finance?
• How are shipping companies organised to work with these issues?
• What is needed to further strengthen the developments and incorporation of future requirements and practices in shipping companies?
• How can Danish Shipping best support members in this field and CFOs in general?
