New Danish strategy for maritme security

Would you like to give your input on the content of the upcoming Danish strategy for maritime security? Then join the member meeting on 5 October 2023.

The Danish authorities are in the process of developing a new Danish strategy for maritime security to replace the priority paper for the Danish efforts to combat piracy and other types of maritime crime, which expired at the end of 2022.

The new strategy is expected to focus on the following five areas:

  1. Spillover from war and conflicts into the maritime domain.
  2. Deliberate attacks on shipping by criminals.
  3. Deliberate attacks by state-sponsored actors.
  4. Exploitation by criminals of vulnerabilities in maritime transport.
  5. Underlying circumstances and root causes of maritime crime

Members are invited to a meeting at Danish Shipping with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense where there will be an opportunity to provide input and contributions for the latest draft of the new Danish maritime security strategy. 

Shortly before the meeting, it is hoped that a copy of the latest draft of the strategy can be shared with the members who have registered for the meeting.
